Construction Material Art

After art school I am starting my journey of becoming a carpenter after a 7 year art journey. I am pushing myself on a new journey to express the trades with my art because I believe the trades go under-appreciated yet those "Rough and Tough guys" literally built the house or apartment you are sitting in right now.

My artwork is only made with construction materials or scraps on the job site that would have been thrown out to help push me to learn within Art, Carpentry, & Self being. However carpentry is just a scratch from the surface within the trades and not even a 16th of a inch of the usable construction materials that are out there from the plumbing, the the sparkies tools & HVAC stuff.

This decision to work strictly in this new medium will force me to be way more creative from wall sculptures to Installations & free standing sculptures while simultaneously exposing the underbelly off our modern world with how the buildings are built and the crazy amount of work that goes into it that you might have not fully recognized or live it every day.

While doing framing work and looking at the partly exposed structures make my art mind go wild with ideas as I'm stepping further within this world where builds & creativity is absolutely endless.

"August 1952 Note - Dysart Bolender Farm Storage" is truly interesting because when I was helping my landlord do some demolition on a bunky on property that apparently was previously a building for storage on the Bolender Farm It's hard to say who owned the farm because George Milton Bolender was born on 19 February 1878, in Haliburton, Dysart and Others, Haliburton, Ontario, Canada, his father, George Wise Bolender, was 29 and his mother, Katherine Jennifer Brandon, was 25. He married Maryann Jane Gray on 20 May 1903, in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. Some were born in Haliburton and some in the surrounding areas. He immigrated to New York, United States in 1943 and lived in York, York, Ontario, Canada in 1901 and Victoria, Ontario, Canada in 1911. The family was known for being all over the US as Canada. George Milton Bolender passed away on 28 March 1969, in Allison, Redstone Township, Fayette, Pennsylvania, United States, at the age of 91. It's quite something to learn about literally the land that I'm sitting on the sofa in a cozy home. Kinda wild and that dated note just made my mind go crazy about the history.

"Leslie Frost Centre (1944 - 2004) - Lesley + Chuck True Love Forever" was a find going through wood to be repurposed and happened to find wood shelving from the Leslie Frost Centre (1944 - 2004).
In 1944 University of Toronto Faculty of Forestry entered into a partnership to educate government personnel and university students. For many years the site was known as the Ranger School and later, the Ontario Forest Technical Training School. Many courses were taught to government personnel. Students from various faculties at the University came to the school each year on field trips. It's so cool to think about the history of the school and think about when Lesley + Chuck left their mark.
